As well as being a symbol of luck, Kidney beans have long been thought to represent fertility and new beginnings and were very popular in the late 1800/early 1900s.
This rare and very collectable 9ct gold kidney bean charm measures approximately 1.8cm x 1cm wide. Its hallmark for 9ct gold is visible on its bale, and while it doesnt have a date mark, I suspect it derives from the 1910s. Its enamel is a wonderful bright, a gorgeous turquoise blue colour, in an interesting 9ct gold casing, which you can see around the outside of the bean. It weighs a healthy 2.7g.
This wonderful antique charm/pendant looks very pretty on a chain around the neck or attached to a charm bracelet.
